At Suzie Davis Quarter Horses, our Hoosier connections run
beyond the pedigree of Too Slick Two Watch. As the fourth generation
Davis to have lived on the family farm in Washington County located in
southern Indiana, Suzie is as passionate about Quarter Horses of the
“using kind” as she is the roots that she pulled up and replanted in
LaPorte County.
In early 2000 Suzie and Too Slick Two Watch
and a few other equine and canine friends made a bold move from the
southern end of the state to the northern end. There they embarked on
a lifetime journey with LaPorte County native Larry Nickell and his
son Scout, along with their equine and canine friends.
The
result is a small, totally hands on, family oriented, family operated
farm dedicated to raising using horses with the ability, conformation
and disposition for any rider at any level to excel with. On any given
day you’re apt to see Larry doing anything from setting out hay, to
repairing a piece of equipment to helping Suzie assisting one of their
own mares foal. Or our son, Scout might be helping coax a weanling
into the round pen, or practicing his roping, while Suzie saddles a
two year old.
Every day is a little different, yet each one
adheres to tried and true methods learned from old hands, trial and
error, and from practice, practice, practice. The union of these
individuals brings over 70 years of horse expertise to the table. We
may occasionally butt heads, but mostly we marvel over how great it is
when a plan comes together. And that’s what has been happening.
2004 saw the first foal crop of Too Slick Two Watch … and what a
reward they are. We invite you to come visit anytime at the farm or on the website.
and encourage you to check back often for additions to the
gallery
for new foals and other photographs,
and
Horses For Sale.
Despite bookings that indicate a busy
breeding season, Too Slick Two Watch is currently finishing his
cutting training and will compete in the cutting pen. He is also
tie-down roping with Scout aboard in his newest competitive arena at
Indiana High School Rodeos across this state as well as Kentucky,
Ohio, Illinois and Canada. You’ll be able to get updated
information about that on the website as well.
So whether you
are an old friend or would like to get acquainted for the first time,
we invite you to drop us a line, we’d love to hear from you and swap
“horse tales” anytime. The welcome mat is always out and the coffee
pot is always on. Click HERE
